Recently John N. Basic, Sr., the inventor and developer of the BASIC®Technology named after him, was honored by three separate institutions for his contributions to the fields of pollution engineering and waste-to-energy systems: the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Association of Energy Engineers, and the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois. Previously Mr. Basic had been the recipient of industry awards from Power Magazine and Pollution Engineering Magazine for his outstanding work. Mr. Basic holds almost 900 patents in the United States and some 30 other countries for his waste-to-energy systems.

Thomas A. Edison Award presented by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers at Washington, D.C. in November 2003. Only one of the 125,000 engineering members worldwide is selected to receive this prestigious award annually. Regional Award for Corporate Energy Management presented by the Association of Energy Engineers in 2003, for outstanding accomplishments in developing, organizing, managing, and implementing a corporate energy management program, and for superior service to the Association.
   
Professional Achievement Award presented by the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago in December 2003. Mr. Basic was honored as an individual who has achieved personal success, who has made outstanding contributions to his chosen field of endeavor, and who has achieved recognition by his colleagues, both nationally and internationally.
